Dr. Brian J. Fitz

Dentist/Owner

For over 30 years, Dr. Brian J. Fitz has served patients in Streamwood, IL, and surrounding areas with a focus on cosmetic dentistry and restoring dental implants. A respected and trusted member of the community. Being a family-oriented business, Dr. Fitz has many fourth-generation patients. He enjoys seeing patients at their biannual appointments, proud that in many cases, he has been their parents’, grandparents’, and great-grandparents’ dentist. His practice offers family and adult general dentistry services in addition to implants and has worked with organizations providing restorative dental care to veterans, low-income patients in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Dr. Fitz has been practicing for over 30 years. An alumnus of Benedictine College, he continued his education at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1987. He received two prestigious awards: the Stanley D. Tillman Award for “rendering complete oral treatment of the highest quality” and an award for outstanding clinical achievement in a comprehensive patient care program, among others. Upon graduating from the doctorate program, he joined a four-office dental practice in Chicago as an associate. He worked there for four years (where he, incidentally, met his skilled dental assistant, Gloria Fernandez) before joining New Image Dental as an associate. In 1994 he became a partner and in 2014 he became the sole owner and practitioner of New Image Dental.

Since 2014, Dr. Fitz has remodeled and modernized the dental office. He has implemented state-of-the-art software and technology. In 2020, he installed CBCT x-ray equipment that produces three-dimensional (3-D) images. The technology allows Dr Fitz to evaluate patients’ teeth and underlying bone structure, as well as the nerve pathways and surrounding soft tissues in a single scan. In 2021, he installed a 3-D scanner which takes digital impressions, making that experience much more pleasant for the patients.

In recognition of his decades-long commitment to excellence, Dr. Fitz has been named as a fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, as well as a master practitioner by the International Dental Implant Association. He is a member of the American Academy of Computerized Dentistry, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Carol Flanagan, RDH

Dental Hygienist

Carol has been a hygienist since 2001 and with New Image Dental since 2011. As the saying goes, you never feel like you’re working if you love what you do and the people you are with. While she loves seeing all the familiar faces for their returning recare appointments, she’s always happy to see new patients to make them feel like they are part of our dental family. Carol loves being a grandparent, traveling with her husband, bike riding, hiking, and going to rock concerts.

Fun Fact: “One of the items on my bucket list is to travel to all 50 states and see all seven continents–currently in progress!”

Gloria Fernandez

Dental Assistant

Gloria has been a dental assistant for 35 years and she’s been with the team since 1991. She loves learning about new technology in dentistry alongside Dr. Fitz. Her favorite part of being a dental assistant is helping people feel comfortable and calm while in the chair. While not assisting, Gloria enjoys working out, practicing yoga, and going for walks in nature. She loves spending time with her family and pets.

Fun fact: “One of my favorite pastimes is refurbishing old furniture. It’s therapeutic and I love turning old into new!”

Ann Marie Zawislak, RDH 

Dental Hygienist, Practice Administrator

Ann Marie has been a dental hygienist since 2001. She joined New Image Dental in 2006 while working as a hygienist and has been our Practice Administrator since 2019. “Working at New Image Dental is like working with family, both coworkers and patients.” She loves the fact that she’s been able to see some of her patients since childhood, and she is now treating their children. Ann Marie loves to knit, read, and binge-watch documentaries in her free time.

Fun Fact: “When I was 21, my sister and I went sky-diving in rural Illinois, and I would never do it again. Thrilling, but too scary!”
